Roberts a millionaire...oh no!

I had to squeeze in one before I hit the road. USA Today ran a piece about SCOTUS nominee John Roberts' financial situation. Seems that he's got assets worth about $6 million. He's taking quite a paycut to be on the top bench, eh?

The MSM and the left (pardon the redundancy) will be making quite a big deal over Roberts being an evil rich bastard. Problem is, there are a number of prominent Senators who will be voting on his cofirmation who make Roberts look like a pauper in comparison. According to CNN, in 2003, of the top 12 richest Senators, 10 were Democrats...and all were richer than Roberts.

He also shares a spot in the millionaire's club with two of his soon-to-be-colleagues (both liberals), as per the USA Today article: Race Baiter Ginsburg is worth anywhere from $6 million to $24 million, and David Souter is worth anywhere from $5 million to $25 million. Guess in light of the latter justices' net worths, that would explain their disconnect from the importance of property rights, since they could always buy new property in case the next Kelo comes along and takes their land.

Anyway, the left will get hot and bothered over Roberts' wealth, while ignoring the wealth of liberal Senators and justices. That's odd, since hypocrisy is so unlike them!
