"Minuteman Project" combats illegal immigration

It's pretty sad that a group of private citizens have banded together to patrol the Mexican - U.S. border to report illegal immigrants coming into America. Yes, illegal! That means "in violation of the law", for those of you in blue states. Anyway, why is it sad? Because these citizens (who call themselves the Minuteman Project) are doing the work that the federal government should be doing.

Well, here's a story of how they did over the weekend. Seems that they caught 18 illegals that we know of.

President Bush calls them "vigilantes." Sir, they may not be al Qaeda, but for a moment, think: "What if they were?" I mean, they've demonstrated how easy it is to meander into our country. How tough would it be for al Qaeda to do it?

And by the way, "vigilante" implies that they take law enforcement into their own hands. They do not. They find illegals, then they call the authorities to report the illegals. The authorities can always ignore the Minuteman Project...but they haven't. If the Minuteman Project had members attacking, assaulting, or harming these illegals, then Bush would have a case for vigilanteism. But he doesn't.

And of course, leave it to the ACLU (A**holes, Crazies, and Leftists United) and its Arizona chapter to "monitor" the Minuteman Project's activities. If that was all they were doing, I wouldn't give a wet fart on a dry January Monday about it. But is that ever all the ACLU does? Their goal is to harrass the Project for actually having the gall to exercise their First Amendment rights of free assembly. You'd think that the ACLU would be all for people exercising First Amendment rights, but that only applies if the exercise of said rights was done in a liberal context or agenda. And since liberals benefit from illegal immigration (increased welfare dependency, i.e. vote-buying opportunities), they vehemently oppose American citizens assisting police in law enforcement. By that reasoning, we should ban all neighborhood watches and crime tip hotlines.

As for Mexico, this is a country that puts out guides telling people how to safely cross the border! Why? Two big reasons: (1) illegal immigrants get American jobs and send money back to relatives in poverty-stricken Mexico, and the influx of money goes into Mexico's economy; and (2) the fewer Mexicans in Mexico, the less that Mexico City has to spend in social programs (i.e. welfare, food stamps).

Thank you, Minuteman Project, for shaming border enforcement into action...even if it is only temporary.
