Cheney destroying wildlife

No, not with his big #ss "carbon footprint", but by a more diabolical and brutal method! Does this man's savagery know no end? From Chicago (Da Bears):

A bird appears to have flown into and damaged the engine of Vice President Dick Cheney's plane as it arrived in Chicago Friday morning.

As of 10:30 a.m., mechanics were inspecting the plane to see if repairs are necessary and if the plane can return to Washington. The plane landed safely, and no one was hurt.

"No one was hurt"?? What about that poor, helpless bird? Sucked into Cheney's carbon polluter and chopped into bits, and "no one was hurt"?? Someone call PETA, and pronto! If PETA's not too busy killing animals themselves, they can take care of this b#stard post haste!

For those of you on the left, the prior paragraph was sarcasm. By the way, how long will it be before the moonbats lament that the plane didn't crash and burn Cheney to a crispy nub (like they lamented the failed assassination attempt in Afghanistan)?

Animal rights group: Kill the polar bear cub!

When it's not the evil Bu$hitler McRummyburton trying to kill off the polar bears with the dastardly Rovian global "warming" polar ice cap melting machine, it's...an animal rights activist trying to kill polar bears? From the Euros:

Tiny, fluffy and adorable, Knut the baby polar bear became an animal superstar after he was abandoned by his mother.

He rapidly became the symbol of Berlin Zoo, whose staff bottle-fed him and handed out cuddles in between.

At three months old, however, the playful 19lb bundle of fur is at the centre of an impassioned debate over whether he should live or die.

Animal rights activists argue that he should be given a lethal injection rather than brought up suffering the humiliation of being treated as a domestic pet.

"The zoo must kill the bear," said spokesman Frank Albrecht. "Feeding by hand is not species-appropriate but a gross violation of animal protection laws."

When Knut was born in December, his mother ignored him and his brother, who died. Zoo officials intervened, choosing to raise the cub themselves.

But Albrecht and other activists fret that it is inappropriate for a predator, known for its fierceness and ability to fend for itself in the wild, to be snuggled, bottle-fed and made into a commodity by zookeepers.

But Berlin Zoo holds different opinions. Its chief vet Andre Schuele says the activists' criticisms would make him angry if he could take them seriously. "Polar bears live alone in the wild. I see no logical reason why this bear should be killed."

Schuele also argued that given the increased rarity of wild polar bears, it makes sense to keep them alive in captivity so that they can be bred. "Polar bears are under threat of extinction, and if we feed the bear with a bottle, it has a good chance of growing up and perhaps becoming attractive as a stud for other zoos," he said.

What is it with these animal "rights" idiots that make them thirsty for the blood of animals? I mean, they want us to stop eating meat because "meat is murder", right? Apparently, killing animals is hunky-dory, so long as you don't eat them. Oooooooo-kay then.

How could I have missed this? Yesterday was the Fifth Annual International Eat an Animal for PETA Day! Hat tip to Smash:

PETA has started yet another offensive ad campaign. This one really reaches bottom—they are using Holocaust terminology, quotes, and pictures to liken the “slaughter” of animals to the slaughter of the Jews by the Nazis.
I’ve already received a letter from a child of Holocaust survivors who is, of course, extraordinarily offended. But here’s the thing: PETA is known for this kind of outrageous publicity stunt—and that’s what it is, an outrageous publicity stunt—and while I am also offended and outraged, there is absolutely nothing we can do that will make PETA change their ad campaign. I’m sure they knew exactly what they were doing, have a plan in mind, and, if they withdraw the campaign, will do it according to their deadlines and their decisions.

So let’s make up our own outrageous publicity stunt. Let’s designate... March 15th, as International Eat an Animal for PETA Day. Everybody set the date on your calendar, and either go out and enjoy a great steak, or cook one at home. Or cook up some chicken or fish or anything else that PETA wouldn’t want you to eat.

I had some yummy chicken for lunch today, and even more for dinner.

I had stir-fry, with 10 oz. of grilled chicken in the sauteed squash, red pepper, crimini & portabello mushrooms, and brown rice. Oh, yeah, and I scrambled a chicken abortion egg to throw into it, too. Today's lunch: lemon pepper tilapia. Mmmmmmmmmmm-mmmmh!

PETA on trial for cruelty to animals

It couldn't happen to a better bunch of hypocritical moonbats. From Raleigh:

All around this struggling farm town, chicken houses stand in the fields as a testament to the way many here earn their living -- raising, slaughtering and processing chickens.
It is an unlikely locale for an unlikely criminal case. Today, two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a radical animal-rights group that opposes meat-eating, are on trial for the strangest of charges: killing animals.

PETA is based in Norfolk, Va., but its work has international scope. The group, which raises more than $25 million a year from 1.6 million supporters, opposes any human use of animals, whether for food, fashion or research. In the more than two decades since its founding, it has become a major threat to medical researchers, meatpackers, fur sellers and others.

Now, two of its employees stand accused of tossing garbage bags full of euthanized cats and dogs into a Dumpster behind a Piggly Wiggly in Hertford County, 130 miles northeast of Raleigh.

It is a strange turn of events for PETA. The group's supporters have often been prosecuted for their radical efforts to protect animals -- breaking into fashion shows to throw blood on fur-wearing models, liberating lab animals, showing gory videos outside the circus -- but PETA has never been accused of hurting animals.

Those who oppose PETA are seizing on the trial. The spectacle also has drawn a gaggle of lawyers, PETA staffers, reporters and curious onlookers to this rural county seat, where the small brick courthouse resembles an aging elementary school.

Now, jurors will decide whether Hinkle and Cook were, as PETA argues, providing humane deaths to animals that would otherwise have been painfully killed in gas chambers -- or whether, as several local officials say, they were taking animals on the promise of finding them homes and secretly killing them.

A PETA spokeswoman, Kathy Guillermo, said PETA never wanted to get into the business of euthanizing animals. But she said the group couldn't ignore the horrible conditions in animal shelters around Norfolk and in northeastern North Carolina. The group now euthanizes thousands of animals a year.

"Euthanasia is a better alternative to sitting in a stinking pound," Guillermo said.

PETA opponents are drawing attention to this little-known facet of the group's work.

On Monday morning, the Washington D.C.-based Center for Consumer Freedom, an anti-PETA group funded by restaurants and meat producers, drove a mobile billboard truck reading "PETA: As Warm and Cuddly as You Thought?" past the courthouse.

David Martosko, research director for the group, described the case as a gift in his fight to discredit PETA. He plans to monitor the entire trial.

"Most people would not believe, if you told them two years ago, that PETA kills animals. They'd say, 'What? They're the bunny huggers,' " Martosko said.

Cut PETA a little slack, will ya? I mean, they may have KILLED the animals, but it's not like they ATE them afterwards! I mean, EATING animals is cruel, but killing them without finding them a home and lying in order to quench their thirst for blood is copacetic.

PETA: People Eager to Trashbin Animals

PETA employees arrested for cruelty to animals. Two PETA employees disposed of dead animals in trash bins. OK, no big deal there...if not for the fact that (a) the dumping was illegal, and (b) the real kicker: many of the dead animals were adoptable before PETA sent them to meet their maker!

See, PETA gets some animals from animal shelters and tells the animal shelters they'll find them homes. The animal shelter, understaffed and usually underfunded, agrees. Then PETA...euthanized these animals?!?
