Dems side with terrorists and trial lawyers over American security

Feel free to question not just their patriotism, but their sanity. From Hot Air:
Whose water are the Democrats carrying on this? It seems to come down to two suspects — trial lawyers or the mau mauers at CAIR. Or both.
Democrats are trying to pull a provision from a homeland security bill that will protect the public from being sued for reporting suspicious behavior that may lead to a terrorist attack, according to House Republican leadership aides.

The legislation, which moves to a House and Senate conference committee this afternoon, will implement final recommendations from the 911 Commission.

Rep. Pete King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, and Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, sponsored the bill after a group of Muslim imams filed a lawsuit against U.S. Airways and unknown or “John Doe” passengers after they were removed for suspicious behavior aboard Flight 300 from Minneapolis to Phoenix on Nov. 20 before their removal.

“Democrats are trying to find any technical excuse to keep immunity out of the language of the bill to protect citizens, who in good faith, report suspicious activity to police or law enforcement,” Mr. King said in an interview last night.

“This is a slap in the face of good citizens who do their patriotic duty and come forward, and it caves in to radical Islamists,” Mr. King said.

“I don’t see how you can have a homeland security bill without protecting people who come forward to report suspicious activity,” Mr. King said.

Republicans aides say they will put up a fight with Democrats when the conference committee begins at 1 p.m., to reinsert the language, but that public pressure is also needed.

The story notes that Democrats like Homeland Security Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson opposed the “John Doe” protection out of fears it would lead to racial profiling. Because, of course, racial profiling is so much worse than losing a city full of innocent people.
...
Update: It’s just breaking that the Democrats actually spiked the John Doe proposal in committee. They have exposed to Americans to more terrorism and the threat of lawsuit at the same time. They really ought to reap the whirlwind for this.

If the Democrats get their way, ordinary Americans like Brian Morganstern will have to weigh the threat of lawsuit when they decide whether to trust their gut when they see or hear something suspicious. Some will choose to avoid the lawsuit, and Americans will die.

As for me, I am John Doe.

As am I.

Terrorism involved? Nah, couldn't be!

From Ace:
Large Cache of Weapons Discovered In Dallas Apartment Near Federal Building; Fundamentalist Christian Sought For Questioning
—Ace

Well, I assume he's a fundamentalist Christian. They keep telling me those are the sorts of violent zealots who stock up on Armageddon levels of firepower.

Given that the tenant keeps traveling back and forth to the Middle East, I can only assume he's part of some sort of Biblical/Left Behind Christotourism travel package.

Anyway:
Federal sources tell CBS 11 News that law enforcement officers have confiscated a large cache of weapons found in an apartment near the federal building in downtown Dallas.
...
Police are still taking inventory of all the weapons seized. Among those discovered were two AK-47 rifles, an Uzi 9 millimeter submachine gun, a TEC-9 submachine gun, a 40 millimeter ordnance launcher, a handheld ordnance launcher, and about 500 rounds of ammunition.

Police seized the weapons even though they say it's possible for all of them to be legal.

Child pornography was also found in the apartment, which could lead to criminal charges.
..
Authorities tell us the tenant travels to the Middle East frequently and just returned from there this morning.
...
However, authorities say there is no reason to suspect terrorism as a motive.

Nah, no reason at all.

Just because a pedophile likes to stock up on machine guns and ordnance launchers doesn't mean he's all about terrorism, now does it, you judgmental b#stards? For those of you on the left, the prior sentence was sarcasm.

Arafat died of AIDS

Karma...it's not just for breakfast anymore. God forgive me, but this made me laugh harder than Bill Clinton does whenever taking an oath (marital oath, oath of office, oath to tell the truth in court, etc.). From Moonbattery:
It's official: terrorist Nobel Peace Prize–winner Yasser Arafat died of AIDS. As Mark Steyn notes, this wasn't a big surprise to everyone:
[Arafat having died of AIDS was] pretty much an open secret in diplomatic circles. I'm in Madrid at the moment, and it prompted many knowing chortles among political types I mentioned it to today, along with fond reminiscences about Yasser's corps of hunky blond Scandinavian bodyguards — an odd bunch of chaps to find in Ramallah, but presumably they were doing the jobs Palestinians won't do. (Although I bet the Nobel prize committee would do it! - Ed.)

James Lewis observes that the Western media must have known all about it, but kept it quiet for fear of damaging the postmortem reputation of their favorite terrorist. He accuses Arafat of being a Typhoid Mary of AIDS, knowingly spreading the deadly disease as he indulged his homosexual lusts. This would hardly be out of character for a malignant narcissist like Arafat, who has made it obvious that other humans exist only for his own pleasure and enrichment; their suffering means nothing. Look what he did to Israelis with his terror wars, and to Palestinians by deliberately holding them in poverty, resolutely scuttling any chance of peace and squirreling away Western aid in his own Swiss bank accounts.

This is the kind of guy who gets awarded the Nobel Peace Prize nowadays, thanks to moonbattery.

What do the bloodthirsty camelhumping jihadists who idolzed him think of such un-Islamic (and punishable by death) behavior? Prediction: "It's a Zionist lie! Let's riot and blow stuff up! Le-le-le-le-le-le-le-le-le-le!"

Muslim Congressman Godwins himself

From FNC:
Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, is defending himself Monday after comparing President Bush to Adolf Hitler and leaving the impression the administration may have rigged the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Speaking to an atheist group on July 8, Ellison said that the president acted much the way Hitler did when the Reichstag, or German Parliament building, was burned in 1933 ahead of elections that pitted Hitler's Nazi Party against others, including the Communists. Hitler, who was suspected of ordering the fire, declared emergency powers that helped him launch his dictatorial and murderous reign.

"It's almost like the Reichstag fire, kind of reminds me of that," Ellison told the group, according to The Minneapolis Star Tribune. "After the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it and it put the leader of that country [Hitler] in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted."

So he's a Truther, right? You know, one of those paranoid asshats who think that Bush destroyed the Twin Towers (and part of the Pentagon and made a crater in PA)? Sounds like it...until he gets all John Kerry on us:
During his speech, Ellison went on to tell the 350-member Atheists for Human Rights: "I'm not saying [Sept. 11] was a [U.S.] plan, or anything like that, because, you know, that's how they put you in the nut-ball box — dismiss you."

Oops...too late. Consider yourself dismissed, nut-ball.

Al Qaeda at pre-9/11 strength?

From Breitbart:
U.S. intelligence analysts have concluded al-Qaida has rebuilt its operating capability to a level not seen since just before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, The Associated Press has learned.

The conclusion suggests that the network that launched the most devastating terror attack on the United States has been able to regroup along the Afghan-Pakistani border despite nearly six years of bombings, war and other tactics aimed at crippling it.

Still, numerous government officials say they know of no specific, credible threat of a new attack on U.S. soil.

A counterterrorism official familiar with a five-page summary of the new government threat assessment called it a stark appraisal to be discussed at the White House on Thursday as part of a broader meeting on an upcoming National Intelligence Estimate.

The official and others spoke on condition of anonymity because the secret report remains classified.

Two observations:

1. If this report is true, then this is horrible news for America (which means it's good news for Democrats).

2. This story is based on an anonymous source leaking classified material pertaining to national security, which is a crime. Therefore, I am just sure this will attract the same level of outrage, if not higher, among the left that they had when a non-covert pencil pushing desk jockey's name was given to Richard Armitage, right? For those of you on the left, the prior sentence was sarcasm.

Their words, not mine: Convert or die!

Or, in the case of Israel, just die.

For those of you peace-at-any-price nitwits who want to know what we can do to make the bloodthirsty camelhumping savages from Jerkwater, Arabia, like us, here you go:
Across town from the site of the recent attempted car-bomb attacks, several thousand Muslims gathered in front of the London Central Mosque to applaud fiery preachers prophesying the overthrow of the British government – a future vision that encompasses an Islamic takeover of the White House and the rule of the Quran over America.

"One day my dear Muslims," shouted Anjem Choudary, "Islam will govern Britain!"
...
The Muslim leader's charge, along with interviews with protesters and a "literal foaming-at-the-mouth" diatribe by another speaker, were captured on tape June 22 by nationally syndicated talk radio host Rusty Humphries.
...
For Humphries, the response of the Muslims at Islam's largest house of worship in the UK was telling.

"Not one said, 'You're not speaking for me' or 'Not in my name.' They stood there and watched and applauded," he told WND.
...
The Muslim leader said he does not believe in democracy and insists there is no such thing as freedom of religion, "because freedom is an absolute term."

"Are we to say that Muslims can fully practice religion in America," he asked in an attempt to explain. "Say, for instance, I was a Muslim in America. Could I call for the destruction of the American government and establishment of an Islamic state in America? No. So where is the freedom of religion? There is none." (In other words, "freedom of religion" means the freedom to detonate and self-detonate and kill thousands or more, all in the name of your religion. - Ed.)

Humphries asked: "Do you call for that?"

"Of course," he replied, "we want Islam to be a source of governance for all of mankind. And we also believe that one day America will be ruled by Islam."

...
"There's nothing we can do to be friends?" Humphries asked.

Abu Saif replied: "There is something you can do to be friends. You can become Muslim."

He also had a simple solution to the conflict in the Holy Land.

"We want the Jews to leave Israel, and to hand the whole of Israel, not just Gaza and the West Bank – the whole of Israel to the Muslims. Only then will the Muslims stop."

There you have it, straight from the devil's mouth. The only way to become friends is to become Muslim. Period. What now, peace-at-any-costers?

Hero cabbie tears tendon for kicking jihadist in the 'nads

If you're gonna injure yourself, it might as well be by kicking some camelhumping Islamonutbar terrorist in the sack. From the UK:
A HERO cabbie who took on the Glasgow Airport terror suspects told yesterday how he booted one of them in the privates.

Alex McIlveen, 45, kicked the man, whose body was in flames, so hard that he tore a tendon in his foot.

But he said last night: "He didn't even flinch. I couldn't believe he didn't go down.

"A doctor told me later I'd damaged a tendon in my foot."

The burned suspect was named last night as Khalid Ahmed, a Lebanese doctor.

He is critically ill with burns at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he is believed to have worked.

Slight correction: Ahmed isn't critically ill with burns. He's critically ill with burns and a pair of cracked oysters, compliments of a Scottish cabbie. Without a functioning set of jewels, Ahmed, you won't be getting much mileage out of those 72 virgins, will you, @ssh0le?

"If your nae Scottish, ye are crrrrrrrrrrrap!"

UPDATE: About those "Muslim terrorists are poor and uneducated" lie

UPDATES AT BOTTOM.

You know how apologists for Islamic terrorism like to parrot the "they come from poor backgrounds and have no education, thus no hope" meme? Yes, the same meme that was debunked when we found out about the educated and middle-class-to-affluent backgrounds of the 9/11 hijackers. Anywho, apparently the same meme was being parroted yet again relating to the weekend's terror attack in Scotland.

There's just one slight problem with that...it's not true:
Police said the links between the London attacks and that in Glasgow, where two men tried to smash a blazing vehicle into the city's airport on Saturday afternoon, were "becoming ever clearer".

One of the Glasgow attackers is believed to be a doctor, possibly an Iraqi.
...
The suspected ringleader of the plot is also a doctor, a Jordanian. Neurologist Dr Mohammed Asha, 26, and his burka-wearing wife, 27, were held in a dramatic operation as they drove on the M6 in Cheshire with their two-year-old son on Saturday.

Two doctors? How can this be? I thought it was only poor disenchanted Muslims, alienated and ostracized by the "have's" of society, who did such things! If they're not careful, people are going to start asking questions about the "religion of peace", right?

UPDATE (7/3/2007 - 7:14 A.M. EST): Make that five doctors who hatched the plot in British hospitals. So much for that "first do no harm" oath.

Hamas member works for the Beeb

That would explain why the Beeb was soliciting tips on allied troop locations in Iraq last month, now wouldn't it? From Hot Air:
And just like that, last summer’s controversy over the mixed motives of Arab stringers takes on a repulsive yet exciting new dimension. What’s next? Hizb ut-Tahrir members working for the Guardian?
Despite Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) opposition and per the request of the BBC, the coordinator of government activities allowed a Hamas member who works for the BBC to enter the Gaza Strip last week to assist in efforts to release kidnapped journalist Alan Johnston.

Defense officials told The Jerusalem Post that a week ago, a request came from the BBC asking that a Palestinian employee of the news company who is believed to be a close associate of senior Hamas officials be allowed to enter Gaza.

And to think, I thought the biggest absurdity of the Alan Johnston kidnapping would be Hamas playing the role of hostage negotiator. Exit question one: Why would an infamously left-wing news organization employ members of a genocidal religious fascist group? Hmmm.

LGF asks a valid question: "Can anyone explain to me how this does not violate British law? Because Hamas is an officially proscribed terror group in the UK."

Nope...no liberal media bias! Actually, I can't use that tagline anymore for the Beeb, since they admitted that they are indeed left-wing.

PBS pays for, then spikes, program on "moderate" Muslims vs. terrorism

From Moonbattery:
PBS blew $675,000 of our money on a documentary exploring the difference between peaceful Muslims and the ones who are trying to annihilate our civilization. But when they saw the finished product, PBS execs decided it was "alarmist, overreaching and unfair" — i.e., not sufficiently sympathetic to the terrorist maniacs who are trying to kill us. So they sat on the project, refusing to air it. Instead they ran "fair" material like Bill Moyers' long-winded denunciations of America.

But now Fox News has gotten hold of Muslims Against Jihad, and is going to put it on tonight, hosted by the lovely E.D. Hill. Tune in at 9 PM Eastern.

It came on last night (Sunday, June 24) at 9:00 p.m. EST. Yeah, that Fox News sure is biased, on account of running a PBS story, right?

"PBS execs decided it was 'alarmist, overreaching and unfair'", or in other words, dead-on accurate! Yet another reason (among many) to defund PBS.

Ohio's Dem governor meets with terrorist organization

Said organization is CAIR. From Hot Air:
On Sunday, June 18 — after the Council on American Islamic Relations was named an unidicted co-conspirator in a Hamas funding case — Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) spoke at CAIR-OH’s anniversary banquet. He delivered typical banquet boilerplate.
Governor Strickland addressed the crowd of 350 people, saying: “On behalf of all Ohioans, [my wife and I] appreciate your vision to promote justice and mutual understanding. We gather under CAIR-Ohio’s theme this year, ‘American Muslims: Connecting and Sharing,’ to do just that, to connect and share and get to know each other better.”

Governor Strickland also expressed appreciation for “the Muslim traditions of strong family, hard work, and education,” and presented a proclamation honoring CAIR-Ohio’s work.

Hm. No mention of Hamas’ recent efforts to promote a very rough form of justice in Gaza?

As BizzyBlog notes, thus far the press in Ohio hasn’t reported Strickland’s appearance at the CAIR affair. The only place outside a few righty blogs that you can find anything about the appearance is CAIR’s own web site.

Let’s put this in some perspective. CAIR was named as an unidicted co-conspirator in a terrorism case. Various CAIR officials have been named and nabbed in several terror cases. California Sen. Barbara Boxer, a Democrat, rescinded an award that her office intended to bestow on a CAIR official when the senator learned of CAIR’s terror connections. Another Democrat, NY Sen. Chuck Schumer, characterized CAIR as part of an international terror network. That was back in 2003, so it’s not like this information is so fresh that Gov. Strickland could have just missed it. And Strickland can’t blame CAIR’s problems on the “Rethuglican noise machine” or anything like that.

The MSM is quieter than a cageful of gerbils in a San Fran pet store. Nope...no liberal media bias!

NY Times giving press coverage to terrorist group

Check it out: Hamas gets space to run an op-ed in the NYT. Then again, considering how the Slimes has done its level best in getting the terrorists tipped off to our intel, this should come as no surprise.

The money quote:
We reject attempts to divide Palestine into two parts and to pass Hamas off as an extreme and dangerous force. We continue to believe that there is still a chance to establish a long-term truce. But this will not happen unless the international community fully engages with Hamas.

Yeah, if you can get past that whole "We are committed to wipe Israel off the map" mission statement and countless suicide bombings over the years, they're just a bunch of peace-loving centrists.

Suicide bombers coming to U.S. & Europe?

From ABC News:
Large teams of newly trained suicide bombers are being sent to the United States and Europe, according to evidence contained on a new videotape obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com.

Teams assigned to carry out attacks in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Germany were introduced at an al Qaeda/Taliban training camp graduation ceremony held June 9.

A Pakistani journalist was invited to attend and take pictures as some 300 recruits, including boys as young as 12, were supposedly sent off on their suicide missions.

The tape shows Taliban military commander Mansoor Dadullah, whose brother was killed by the U.S. last month, introducing and congratulating each team as they stood.

"These Americans, Canadians, British and Germans come here to Afghanistan from faraway places," Dadullah says on the tape. "Why shouldn't we go after them?"

Our friends on the left will no doubt see this as mere "fearmongering" by the evil emperor Dubya. We're not in danger, nothing to see, move along...

Crazy Episcopalians at it again

It's not enough that the 'Pissers pick an openly gay unrepentant priest. Now, they add another live one to the mix. That Scrappleface satirized this three years ago, only to see it actually occur in real life, is a testament to how even moonbattery-laced parody can sometimes take roots in reality. Anywho, from Hot Air:
No, that’s not just a Scrappleface headline (anymore). The Episcopalian Church, a major diocese of which is headed up by an openly gay bishop who left his wife and kids, now also has a Muslim priest. Or is that imam?
Shortly after noon on Fridays, the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding ties on a black headscarf, preparing to pray with her Muslim group on First Hill.

On Sunday mornings, Redding puts on the white collar of an Episcopal priest.

She does both, she says, because she’s Christian and Muslim.

Redding, who until recently was director of faith formation at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, has been a priest for more than 20 years. Now she’s ready to tell people that, for the last 15 months, she’s also been a Muslim — drawn to the faith after an introduction to Islamic prayers left her profoundly moved.

“…for the last 15 months…” So she converted or appended or whatever you’d call this well after 9-11. Just sayin’.
Redding, who will begin teaching the New Testament as a visiting assistant professor at Seattle University this fall, has a different analogy: “I am both Muslim and Christian, just like I’m both an American of African descent and a woman. I’m 100 percent both.”

Islam denies the divinity of Christ; Christianity doesn’t function without the divinity of Christ. Redding is suffering from cognitive dissonance. So is her superior in the church.
Redding’s bishop, the Rt. Rev. Vincent Warner, says he accepts Redding as an Episcopal priest and a Muslim, and that he finds the interfaith possibilities exciting. Her announcement, first made through a story in her diocese’s newspaper, hasn’t caused much controversy yet, he said.

Oh, isn’t heresy exciting!

Next on the Episcopalian agenda: Finding a priest who’s Christian, Muslim, gay, straight, Zoroastrian, Hindu and a practicioner of transcendental meditation while claiming to channel Vanuatu, a sixth-century alien who lived on Saturn (but was actually an illegal immigrant from the planet Xanadu). Won’t that be exciting too!

If you're Muslim, fine. If you're Christian, fine. If you're (insert religion here), fine. But it is 110% impossible to be both Muslim and Christian. Period. End of story. Movin' on...

Rushdie still ticking off weirdbeards

Headline: "Pakistan says Rushdie knighthood may spark terrorism". From Breitbart/AFP:
Pakistan demanded on Monday that Britain withdraw a knighthood awarded to author Salman Rushdie, as a government minister said the honour gave a justification for suicide attacks by Muslims.

Angry protesters in several cities torched British flags and beat them with their shoes in protest at the accolade for the Indian-born writer of "The Satanic Verses" and chanted "Death to Britain, death to Rushdie."

Rushdie, 59, was forced to go into hiding for a decade after Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989 issued a death sentence over his book "The Satanic Verses," claiming it insulted Islam.

Iran has already accused British leaders of "Islamophobia" after Rushdie -- now Sir Salman -- was awarded the knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday to mark her 81st birthday.

"If somebody has to attack by strapping bombs to his body to protect the honour of the Prophet, then it is justified," Pakistani Religious Affairs Minister Ijaz-ul-Haq told the national assembly.

Other events that would likely spark terrorism from the "religion of peace" include the following:
  • The changing of seasons;
  • The shifting of the wind's direction (also known as Hillary's position on Iraq);
  • The setting AND rising of the sun;
  • Sleeping AND waking up;
  • Walking;
  • Breathing.
Many more exist, but I'm sure you get my drift.

"Time Out London heralds the dawn of the Islamic British utopia"

I'm still trying to figure out of the column is a joke or not. The UK has been slouching towards dhimmitude, so it may not be that far-fetched to think this guy's serious. I happen to think he is. Anywho, from Hot Air:
...you have to read it to believe it. It’s a whitewash for the ages, beginning with a sneering dismissal of right-wing worries about a “society where women are second-class citizens, same sex relationships a crime and Sharia law enforces terrible public disfigurement and death” and segueing into section by section hosannas to the genius of Islamic civilization.

From the prostration during prayers, which keeps the joints supple, to the health benefits of banning alcohol and enforcing halal dietary laws to the “revolutionary effect” it would have on education and self-discipline if schools had a little more of a madrassa vibe to them, we’re in for a golden age, kids.

Through it all, two themes recur: the author’s blithe insistence that any failings in the Islamic world are due to “social factors,” not religion, and the contempt he shows for his own culture, most notably in his description of eating habits and the genuinely astonishing assertion that London on balance will become “a little less cruel” thanks to the compulsory donations to charity. As for the section on inter-faith relations and “the guiding hand of Islam,” the less said, the better.

I do like how he regards concerns about this scenario as being exclusively the province of the right-wing, though. Too true, my friends, too true.

Read this "jawdropper", as LGF describes it:
    Race relations
Under Islam all ethnicities are equal. Once you have submitted to Allah you are a Muslim – it doesn’t matter what colour you are. End of story.

Oh. My. Allah. I may have just officially seen it all. "All you have to do is abandon whatever faith, if any, you currently have and submit to Allah. Life's a bowl of cherries henceforth.

    Un-freakin'-believable.

Leftards: JFK Airport terrorist plot is made-up

But...but...the left understands the nature of our enemy!

By now, you know about the foiled terrorist plot to blow up JFK Airport in NYC. Full details here. Obviously, it's just Dubya trying to keep us scared, right? 'Cuz, you know, like, Muslim terorists don't exist and would never attack us...and stuff. From LGF:
The Kos Kidz have finally noticed the Kennedy Airport terror plot: Daily Kos: State of the Nation: NEWSFLASH: U.S. Government Full of Sh*t.
I don’t believe the latest terrorist plot bullsh*t. If this ever goes to trial, and if they show actual evidence that these guys they arrested weren’t just talking trash, I’ll admit I was wrong and apologize for what I’m about to say:

People at Freerepublic and LGF are gullible f*cking morons, bloodthirsty sh*tbags, and weak-willed losers who NEED big brother to tell them what to think, how to act, and who to hate . Of course, most at DK realize that, so I don’t know if this diary is even necessary. Nevertheless, why is it so hard to have a little bit of skepticism when faced with constant lies produced out of D.C.

Here is a list I cribbed from antiwar.com:

    Lackawanna Six
    Detroit
    Virginia Paintball guys
    The tortured Abu Ali
    Jose Padilla
    Lodi, California
Miami plot against the Sears Tower
    New York subway tunnels
“Liquid explosives” plot on UK to US flights
    Ft. Dix Six

Thanks to the blog by Scott Horton for the list. I knew there’d been plenty of stupid sh*t busts like this over the last few years, but really...how dumb to you have to be to believe the U.S. government at this point? The U.S. government has ZERO credibility. FDA—failing to protect U.S. consumers, FEMA—catastrophic failure in New Orleans, Iraq War—lies upon lies to get Americans to launch an illegal war of agression, 9-11—failure to prevent what anyone with a lick of sense could see coming for years (ask me why I wasn’t surprised that day—shocked by the massive slaughter, but not the attack), Economy—govt economic figures distorted and made essentially useless, i.e. inflation figures, unemployment data, etc., etc., etc....

Unless something is done to change that lack of credibility via impeachment, or at least a democratic administration/congress that tells the truth occasionally post 2008, it will remain an unbelievable and nauseating purveyor off horsesh*t and unrestrained violence.

Yep, all terror busts are just big coinkidinks. Nothing to see here, move along...

    "Religion of peace" update

From CBS News (despite that, I think the story is real):
All throughout the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), Pakistan's impoverished western border with Afghanistan, lie the ruins of barbershops and music and video stores – symbols of Western-oriented life that religious extremists have destroyed in a growing wave of violence.
Now Islamist militants have a new target, and if they are successful, observers say their campaign could be disastrous for Pakistan's future.

In what appears to be an escalating spree over the last year, extremists have bombed at least four girls' schools and circulated violent threats warning girls to stay at home.

But according to Rosie O'Qaeda, Cindy Shehag, and their ilk, America is Public Enemy #1. Nary a peep from those witches when it comes to true evil.

NYT: Unclear if religion played role in Fort Dix Six plot

And this is the paper that the leftards hold in such high regard? From Newsbusters:
New York Times reporter Alan Feuer, seen on Times Watch last May giving respectable coverage to a convention of "Bush-caused-9-11" conspiracy nuts, went to enormous (and erroneous) pains on Monday to soft-pedal the Muslim beliefs of the Fort Dix terrorist plotters in "Two Mosques Are Shaken by Ties to a Terror Plot."
"It is unclear what role, if any, religion played in the attack Mr. Shnewer and the five other men are charged with planning. (The sixth suspect, Agron Abdullahu, had no apparent connection with Al-Aqsa or the South Jersey Islamic Center.) The authorities have described the suspects as Islamic extremists, but the lengthy criminal complaint summarizing the F.B.I.'s 15-month undercover investigation of the group does not mention where -- or how often -- they prayed. Certainly there is no evidence that they picked up radical ideas at either mosque."

In contrast to the Times' uninformative, politically correct take, the New York Post filed a complete story, with details on the suspects' radical Islamic beliefs.
"When the teen and another employee went into a back room and began the conversion of the tape, they saw a group of bearded men wearing 'fundamentalist attire' and shooting 'big, f-ing guns,' the teen later told co-workers.

"Throughout the 90-minute-long tape, above the booming gunfire at a Pennsylvania target range, the jihadists could be heard screaming 'God is great!'"
    ...
"That call to authorities set in motion a 16-month undercover investigation in which six of the men caught on tape chillingly discussing killing soldiers 'in the name of Allah.'"

Yeah, I could see where six guys talking about killing soldiers in the name of Allah while wearing jihadi garb could be a tad bit confusing as to whether or not they are Muslim.

    Nope...no liberal media bias!

    Padilla trial finally starting

Those of you who have been here for two years or longer know how I feel about the José Padilla situation: I think the government sucks for what they've been doing to him. He's an American citizen, and thus entitled to Constitutional rights that have been deprived of him from the beginning. My prior thoughts are here.

Anywho, his trial is now getting underway. From MyWay News:
The trial of suspected al-Qaida operative Jose Padilla opened Monday with federal prosecutors arguing the U.S. citizen and two co-defendants provided money, recruits and military equipment to Islamic extremists involved in violence worldwide for nearly a decade.

"The defendants were members of a secret organization, a terrorism support cell, based right here in South Florida," Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Frazier told jurors in his opening statement. "The defendants took concrete steps to support and promote this violence."

Padilla, a former Chicago gang member and Muslim convert, has been in federal custody since his May 2002 arrest at O'Hare International Airport. He was initially accused of plotting to detonate a radioactive "dirty bomb" in the United States and held for 3 1/2 years as an enemy combatant at a Navy brig, but those allegations are not part of the Miami indictment.

He was added to the Miami case in late 2005 amid a legal battle over the president's wartime detention powers involving U.S. citizens. His lawyers had fought for years to get him before a federal judge.

I think he's a scumsucking terrorist camelhumper who will be found guilty, but as as American citizen, he's still entitled to a speedy trial. This administration has argued against that, and I find their position reprehensible.
